Last Saturday, members of our club went for a desert hike, at Borrego Palm Canyon. We were a small group of only seven people but as it turned out, had more pleasant temperatures in the desert than in San Diego!
Join us for our February 2022 outdoor activity. We’ll go to Anza Borrego Desert State Park for an afternoon hike with our chair Alexander S. Kunz. It has been a pretty dry winter so we’re not expecting flower blooms, but the desert is always an interesting place to photograph and explore, in particular for close-ups, details, abstracts, and also wildlife.
We invite all SCPS members to our first meeting of the year, still via Zoom (thanks, Omicron!), with Greg Russell of Alpenglow Images and his talk “The Promised Land: 20 Years in Joshua Tree National Park or The Benefit of Being a Homebody.” Please continue reading if you’re interested. Meeting date & time are at the end of this invitation.
Join our president Alexander S. Kunz for an exploration of the (slot) canyons in the Palm Wash area of Anza Borrego Desert State Park, near the old Calcite Mine. This is a full-day activity (if you want) – depending on our timing we can head from the Palm Wash area to Fonts Point or Clark Dry Lake for sunset, and then have dinner in the town of Borrego Springs together.
